Darth Vader Cake

A cake that was described as 'wicked', this was a chocolate torte cake with chocolate filling, not for the fainthearted! It was a challenge to do, and I really missed Darth, hanging around my kitchen, when I had to hand him over to Nigel, to give to his son Stephen for this 14th Birthday .

50th Wedding Anniversary

This was a luscious marsala soaked fruit and nut cake that was for a large 50th Wedding Anniversary party, the cake cut like a dream, I was told, and everyone throughly enjoyed it. The decoration was a classic white and red roses on an ivory coverered cake, with marzipan, of course.

Cupcakes

Here are some coffee and walnut cupcakes with some lovely cute pink flowers on top, they were quite difficult to eat in one mouthful!
And these were white chocolate mudcake cupcakes, with a raspberry cream topping, although easier to eat in one mouthful, they were very rich and tasted divine.

Iona's Birthday cake

This was a cakes for one of my mother in laws friends, it was a rich fruit and nut cake, drenched in madeira, with marzipan and white sugarpaste covered in lots of sugarpaste flowers. It took a long time to get the flowers made, but i think that the end product was worth it!

Paul's Birthday

It is always more difficult designing a cake for men, however this is a great design, and since it looked like a present, it killed two birds with one stone (not really, I did buy a present as well, he would never let me get away with that!) It was my carrot cake recipe inside, he adores it, probably due to the rum-soaked raisins that make it so moist.

60th Birthday

I had a commission to create a 60th birthday cake with roses and pink icing. Girly and sophisticated, so this is the result. The cake was vanilla with raspberry jam and vanilla buttercream - classic combinations.

Stephanies's Birthday cake

This was a decadent cake, orange sponge, with orange liqueur drizzle, orange marmalade and buttercream, it had the flourish of feathers on top and the crown-like sculptured gum paste below.

Juliette's 10th Birthday cake

Juliette's birthday - again!! I can't believe it has been a year, she commissioned this snow cake specially, even though it was the beginning of July. Juliette had a toboganning party, hence the snowball and snowflakes. The cake was a heart shaped chocolate cake with jam, and by all accounts it went down a storm - snowstorm that is?

Cookies for twins

I was on a roll with birthday cookies, so made these for the twins birthday. They are pink and brown lemon cookies (lemon being their favourite flavour) that were a little bit classy.

Sue's Birthday

I work with a lovely, and very amusing lady called Sue. She is in Bolton and I am in Solihull, so sending a cake was going to be difficult, and she isn't a cake kinda girl, she is a cookie lass. So since I had my new cookie cutters, I set to work making some pink and white lemon cookies. She was so bowled over she wouldn't talk to me that whole day as she would have burst into tears - I am hoping of joy and happiness.

The groom's birthday cake

This was a chocolate sponge with an Irish flag on the top, quite simple. And what a good idea to get married on your husband's birthday - he will never forget your anniversary!!

Hollie and Daves big cake

Yes, that is a whole 5 tiers you see before you! THis was the biggest cake ever, my whole kitchen was taken over with it, it was a vanilla sponge with a dark chocolate ganache filling, allc overed in white sugarpaste, and lots of it, and staked sky high. The groom is Irish, so they had an emerald theme, hence the ribbons, and all finished off with a bit of bling - gorgeous brooches and some diamantes around the other tiers. Pretty impressive.

Jas' birthday - again!

I love the bright colours on this cake, it really stands out from the crowd and it even has a bit of sparkle on it as well - just as Jas sparkles in our office - ahhhh. The cake inside was a lovely chocolate cake, it all went in no time.

Alison and Scott's wedding

The couple got married at Silchester House, a lovely place near Reading. The reception was in a marquee, hence the yellow glow from the photo! The cake was a simple ivory covered cake, with a fabric effect and enhanced with flowers by my sister-in-law Gillian, at Daffogils. The cake was chocolate sponge on the bottom, carrot cake then vanilla sponge perched on top.

Is it a laptop or a cake?

This was a challenging cake!! And the challenge was set by my boss, so I couldn't fail. The bottom part is a white and dark chocolate brownie, with an edible photo of Nigel's son, Christopher, favourite computer game.

Ben's first birthday cake

Ben was the star of this cake with an edible picture of him in the middle of a sun for his first birthday cake. It was a moist carrot cake with orange buttercream filling which went down very well - especially after a few glasses of wine and a BBQ - for the 30 guests attending.

Alexa's Christening cake

Alexa's mum is a wonderful friend who I used to work with in London, and since Alice has had a daughter the girlie side of her has really come out. So when Alice requested booties and fairies, I had to give her booties and fairies, and the fairy even has a glitter edged skirt! Awww, how cute is that?

Diane's birthday cake

I had to try out my new cutters with another sugarpaste so I did some in this orange colour, with a black centre. I think that it looks pretty stunning - everyone at work thought so too, well, at least the orange sponge with lemon curd was eaten in a very short space of time.

Mollies first birthday

A doozing Pooh bear was requested for this cake, he didn't wakeup in time to get a piece either, the vanilla sponge with buttercream and raspberry filling was much appreciated by Mollie's family.
