Chocoholic Thanksgiving

I did this for my brothers partners chocoholic family. They all adore chocolate, so it was an easy choice to make a rich dark chocolate truffle torte for them, and an even easier decision to fill the cake with a mixture of white, milk and dark chocolate truffles, some laced with orange liqueur, others brandy, or just rolled in hazelnuts, white chocolate or cocoa chocolate truffles.

Take That are the best

Only the BEST band in the world and me and my mates are going to see them. Well I just had to make a cake to celebrate, didn't I? It was a simple dusting of cocoa that made this look fabulous. And we have a great time at the concert as well, thanks for asking!

Rushs' Birthday cake

A football fan, and a Liverpool fan as well, Rush loved this cake with the footie pitch on top and the Liverpool chant along the bottom. It was a vanilla sponge sandwiched with chocolate ganache.

A friends Dad'sbirthday

Again I have used the same design as below, it is particularly good design for cakes requested for men, as it has quite a striking look - and no flowers!

Charity cake

This was done for a charity event at work, and it certainly tested out my steady hands for this design. This effect was later used and refined a little for the cake above.

Meg's naming ceremony

This is for my niece, Meg on her big day. The whole cake didn't take long to be eaten, it took more time for paul and Gillian to decide how to cut it. The cake was a rich chocolate sponge, decorated in chocolate plastique and lots of chocolate dipped strawberries.

Alex Luke Naming Ceremony

This is a special cake for a school friend of mine who had a naming ceremony for her second son, Alex Luke. The cake was a present for both her and her husband and they seemed thrilled with it. I have used the teddy bear and building block idea again as it effectively displays names in an original manner on a cake, whilst keeping it simple and classic in design.

Juliettes 9th Birthday cake

This was for Juliette, the daughter of a friend, and was a simple design, practicing my writing skills and also the butterflies. Her daughter was thrilled with the cake, especially as it had her name on it, it made for a special day for her.

Steph's birthday cake

And it is another cake for work, this time Stephanie, who is quite sophisticated therefore I needed a cake that matched her personality. This was a chocolate cake with orange butter cream - a classic chocolate/orange combination and red marzipan roses, it went down very well.

Meg and Ben's BBQ

This was a cake I made for my niece, Meg and my best friends baby, Ben. It was their first meeting at a BBQ in our garden. To celebrate I created this cake that had two teddies (one boy, one girl, obviously) on top and the babies names on the building blocks on top, luckily their names are both short and symmetrical! The cake was a carrot cake and it is moist and healthy (dairy-free)

Jas' birthday

And this is when I started trying out some ideas on the girls at work, luckily my colleagues enjoy a cake or two and they have all been only too happy to try them out - and have loved them all. This was the first time I made butterflies, everyone was so impressed - they didn't believe that I had done them!!

Di's 40th Birthday

I had a memorable weekend in Leek for a friends 40th birthday, and actually brought tears to her eyes when presenting her with this rich chocolate cake, decorated with marzipan roses - and there was enough for us all to take some home!
